Who we are
This policy explains how snumberry (“we”, “us”) handles information in the skintective mobile app (the “app”) and on this website (https://skintective.com). If you have a question about it, contact us at support@snumberry.com.
Summary
- Everything you record in the app is stored only on your device. It is never sent to us or to anyone else.
- The app has no accounts, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking, and contains no third-party SDKs.
- We never sell your data or use it for advertising.
- You can delete everything at any time in the app: Settings → Delete all data.
- This website records basic, anonymous visit statistics without cookies.
Information in the app
The app helps you keep a personal skincare journal. What you enter is stored on your device, in the app’s own storage, and is used only to show you your history and the patterns in it. All processing, including the learning that produces your results, happens on your device. We have no server that receives it and no way to see it.
This information includes:
- Your products: names, brands, ingredient lists, categories, expiry dates, your own notes, whether you’d buy it again, and an optional photo of each product.
- Your routines and product use: which products you used and when.
- Your daily check-ins: how your skin was, symptoms you noticed and where, how noticeable they were, other factors (such as sleep or stress) and your notes.
- Your profile answers: age range, gender, skin type, goals, how you heard about the app, skin quiz answers and ingredients you want to avoid.
- Optional selfies for your journal.
- Results the app works out from the above.
- Settings such as reminder times.
Check-ins and skin information can relate to your health. Because they never leave your device, we don’t collect or process them, and they are never used for advertising, marketing, data mining or any purpose other than showing them to you.
Device permissions
The app asks for a permission only when you use the feature that needs it. You can change your mind at any time in your device settings.
- Camera: to photograph a product label so the app can read its name and ingredients, to take a photo of a product for its page, and to take journal selfies. Label photos are read on your device and then discarded; only the recognised text is kept, with the product. Product photos and selfies are stored only on your device.
- Photos: if you choose a label or product photo from your library, the app receives only the photo you pick. It has no access to the rest of your library.
- Notifications: for the routine and check-in reminders you turn on. Reminders are scheduled on your device; no notification server is involved.
Backups
Your device’s own backup (for example iCloud Backup on iPhone) may include your journal and product photos, so they can be restored to a new device. Those backups are handled by the platform provider under its privacy policy and your backup settings, not by us. Journal selfies are excluded from these backups. Selfies and product photos are protected by your device’s encryption while it is locked.
Sharing and selling
We do not sell, rent or share information from the app with anyone, because we never receive it. The app does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
Keeping and deleting your information
Information in the app stays on your device until you delete it. You can delete a single selfie from the Journal or a product photo from its product, or everything (products and their photos, check-ins, routines, results, profile answers and selfies) with Settings → Delete all data. Deleting the app also removes its data from your device; copies in your own device backups follow your backup settings. You can copy your journal yourself from Settings → Your data: Back up for another phone makes a file the app can restore (with your product photos and, if you choose, your selfies), which you open on a new phone with Restore a journal; Export to a spreadsheet makes spreadsheet files for your own use. The export is created on your device and goes only where you send it. Since we hold none of this information, we can’t view, export or delete it for you, and we can’t recover it if it is lost.
This website
To understand how people find skintective, this website records simple events: pages viewed, how far down a page you scrolled, questions opened, and clicks on download or contact links. Each event includes the page, the link or campaign that brought you here (for example a utm_source tag or the referring site), a general device type (such as “iphone”) and your country, worked out by our hosting provider from your connection.
We don’t use cookies, we don’t ask for your name or email, and we don’t store your IP address with these events or use them to identify you. Your browser keeps the source of your visit in session storage until you close the tab. Our hosting provider processes standard request information, including your IP address, to deliver the site and keep it secure. We keep website event records for no longer than 12 months.
If you email us, we use your message and email address only to reply, and keep them only as long as needed for that.
Service providers
The website is run with the help of a hosting provider, and website event records may be stored with a data-processing service we choose. They act on our instructions and may not use the information for their own purposes. The app uses no service providers. When you download the app, the App Store handles the download under its own privacy policy.
Security
The app keeps your journal in its private storage on your device, and selfies with your device’s strongest file protection. This website is served only over encrypted connections (HTTPS). No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, so please keep your device protected with a passcode.
Children
skintective is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU and UK, the CCPA in California, or the PDPA in Singapore), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or move your personal data, to object to or limit how it is used, and to withdraw consent. Information in the app is already entirely in your control on your device. For anything we hold, such as an email you sent us, write to support@snumberry.com and we will respond within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Not medical advice
skintective shows patterns in your own history, not causes. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition. For a significant, persistent or worsening skin reaction, talk to a pharmacist, doctor or dermatologist.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date before the change takes effect. If a future version of the app ever sends information off your device, for example to back up an account, we will explain what and why here first and ask for your consent in the app where required.
